The Principle of Living a Wellness Lifestyle - Concepts of Thought
By: Stephen Jeremie
The following is designed to refresh the mind about the principle of living a wellness lifestyle. Three out of five people will understand the following concepts of thought. You decide if you are one of them.
There is one thing all humans have in common and that is need. The need to be happy, to be at peace or in love. The need for business or to be in school; whichever you're individual need, the most important need (in my opinion) is a need to be healthy. Health is a component in our everyday lives that enables us to make choices and gain satisfaction from living.
Today, I introduce a new thought about, need. The need for wellness. "Wellness is a state of whole well-being, an ongoing process, reaching the optimum level of functioning". (Dr. John Travis. Berkeley California). Wellness is old in practice yet new in thinking. Many people are baby boomers, generation X or generation next. The common thread is that the need to be healthy is on most minds today. Like it or not there is one fact and that is the fact all of us are aging. People / Scientist can not stop the aging process; however, they can prevent certain illnesses from occurring. By now many people have heard the word senescence - the process of aging or the word wellness. The concept of wellness helps people revitalize a fresh new way of thinking and living.
Once people tried to remain young; today the goal is to remain healthy. It is more prevalent even fashionable to stay healthy. Like it or not, the social clock is ticking and many people are not in step with the times; others have accomplished their needs: business, marriage, and family, careers, health and wellness lifestyle - Congratulations!
The other group may need a wake up call. They still smoke, drink too much, eat fast foods and hardly go for walks. They have never considered a wellness program. The latter group have their biologicial health clock lagging behind; it needs updating. Are you one of them?
Wellness minded people tend to be happier, sexually satisfied, are determined to improve their business and improve today's workplace. Wellness is designed to reduce the on set of stressors. In addition, decrease smoking and other negative habits to the point of cessation.
At the same time, increase the "joy of living" to the realm of "a proactive need". For most it is happiness and comfort. We do this for the sake of all grandchildren. The soul purpose of both wellness & senescence is to enjoy family life; maintain a level of functional independence and teach our youth: respect, responsibility and proper manners.
